Get Ready

Choosing an artificial tree over a real one saves you a lot of time and effort. For starters, you don't have to chop it down, haul it to your car, and squeeze it in the boot. Also, you can reuse it every year! However, when it arrives at your door, it will require some time and attention to make it look its best.

We recommend giving yourself a couple of hours to assemble and decorate your tree. So, why not grab a friend, open a bottle of wine, and chuck on a Christmas playlist to make the most of your experience?

Before you start, make sure you have all the parts you need. The manual provided includes a list of parts, but as a rough guideline, you should have a tree and a stand. For easy assembly, each section slots together and the stand has screws to easily secure to the base of the tree.

Also, it's important to consider where you plan to place your tree. After all, you don't want it to be too wide or too tall, so make sure you measure your space. For best results, always assemble your tree as close as possible to its intended location. And remember to leave room for an angel on top!

Secure the Base

There are two main types of stand for artificial Christmas trees.

Plastic Stands

Smaller trees tend to come with a plastic stand. To assemble the stand, simply slot the legs into the centre piece and push them in as far as possible. This will ensure your tree stands stable. Next, attach the tree by pushing the bottom pole into the centre of the stand.

Metal Stands

Larger trees usually come with a metal stand. Simply fold it open, so that it forms an X-shape with all four legs equal distance apart. Then, place the bottom pole of your tree into the centre hole. Finally, use the supplied eyebolt screws to secure the pole in place.

Assemble the Branches

When shaping the branches, a golden role of thumb is to start at the bottom of your tree and work your way up. If the branches come pre-attached, focus on one branch at a time. First, gently bend the branch down, so its pointing outwards. Next, fluff up the branch by spreading out its off shoots an equal distance apart.

Although there's no wrong way to do this, we like to give our branches a subtle bend as if they're growing upwards. Then, gently pull them down at the tips. Taking this approach will give your tree a bushy shape every bit as beautiful as a living Christmas tree. For slim pencil trees, you can skip this step, and simply pull the branches outwards to achieve a fluffy shape.

If your tree comes with hook-on branches, 'fluff up' each branch before attaching it to the stem of the tree. For easy assembly, each branch comes colour-coded. So, all you have to do is match the colour on the end of the branch to the colour on the stem. This will ensure your artificial tree has a perfect conical shape.

Review Your Hard Work

Now, before you start adding decorations, it's important to pause and take a step back. Not only does this allow you to enjoy your tree in all its naked splendour, but it allows you spot any gaps or unevenness. For a natural, rustic look, you might prefer it to look a bit disjointed. But it you want it to look picture perfect, adjust any sections that aren't working for you and step back again. There, doesn't that look better?

Decorate the Tree

One you've perfected the shape, it's time for the fun part: adding lights and decorations! Start by adding string lights in your desired colour. We recommend using our bright and sparkly Christmas Tree lights which come in four sizes to fit 5ft, 6ft, 7ft, and 8ft trees. Next, add your baubles, tinsel, and hanging decorations to stamp your personality on your tree. Finally, pop a topper on your tree to complete its look. Fabulous!
